On the Run

It was hot. So hot in fact, push mowers were suddenly a yard ornament, just waiting for a rain storm to come and let the grass grow. Pools were no longer glistening with water waiting to be jumped in, and sidewalks were lines with strips of bacon as guys with their sons tested the suns rays in hopes of outdoing the old saying, it’s so hot you could fry and egg on the sidewalk. Three hours later, Jonathon Williams had proven that saying, only with his bare feet, as blisters appeared painfully on the bottom of his feet. He was on a mission, even though he was only 18 months old. He'd heard the sound of the ice cream truck, driving down his street and knew it meant something good to eat.
