He shoved the bike among the kuat bike racks and ran. They weren’t far behind him. If he could make it inside of the school, he might be safe if a teacher saw them chasing him. Maybe.
He kept running. Only a few yards to go, but they were gaining on him, fast. He had to run faster. He had to be one step ahead of them or they would catch him and kill him.
But if he made it inside of the school, he was safe. A half a yard to go. They couldn’t enter the school. It was forbidden. That much he knew. Ghosts could not enter somewhere where they had died. But they would kill him if they caught him because he was the cause of their death.
