NYC Novel Notes

He wakes her and tells her to run. She refuses and she sees a dark glow in his eyes that she has never seen before, but it does not scare her. He tells her
to run again and she still refuses until he shoves her behind him and Adrienne breaks through the room in anger. Adrienne tells Kage that he has betrayed him and Kage tells Adrienne he will never truly be a part of their world and Adrienne tells him he is wrong because he will always be a vampire and they begin to fight. Adrienne
is winning and Kage tells Katheren to run once more or he'll kill her himself and this time she does so. She runs towards the bridge over the river and thinking she is far enough away, she stops and turns back.

No one is behind her and she breathes a sigh of relief for a moment, but then suddenly Adrienne is there in front of her and she screams and tries to run, but he grabs her by the throat and picks her up. She is dying and he starts to take her blood when he senses Kage is still alive, so he throws her over the bridge into the water below and he feels Kage's rage as Kage is there fighting him in full force. Adrienne thinks he can until he feels Kage punch
through his chest and rip out his heart. Adrienne is surprised that Kage has beat him and he dies. Kage goes down into the water below to find Katheren and when he does she seems to not be alive. He brings her up out of the water and carries her in pain/tears even as dawn breaks.

Flash forward to him walking down the street in the sunlight with a pair of shades on. He is approaching an antique bookstore and a small shadow moves around the corner and comes running to him. It's a little girl and he picks her up in his arms and then another shadow comes from around the corner. It's Katheren and he picks her up in a hug as he begins to recollect the past several years and how he is still a vampire, but no longer needs the blood and can withstand daylight. And as he walks away in the distance with his family his
daughter's eyes begin to glow just like his.
