Beef Tongue. It's What's For Dinner.

In an effort to get the kids to try something new and of course to just try something new all together, we're cooking Beef Tongue for dinner. Most people might get a little squeamish at the idea, but it's no worse than pigs feet or beef liver.

The kids however, are already protesting. At least our daughter She's one of the squeamish which is to be expected, so we'll see how it goes. But, in reality the kids are not used to a lot of foods. At one time in their life they were served on ramen noodles and macaroni and cheese. So I can understand why it's hard for them to try anything but pasta.

The only downfall I have found to cooking beef tongue is that it takes a long time to prepare. To cook beef tongue you have to boil it for at least 2 hours. This really the only easiest way the outer skin can be removed. Once that is done, the beef tongue is sliced and then included in a favorite recipe. I'll be baking the tongue with stuffing and serving it with green beans and mashed potatoes and gravy.

I have been boiling it for about an hour now and it's already starting to smell very yummy.
